C. Powell Pottery

C. Powell Pottery is handcrafted, arts and crafts style pottery produced by Chris Powell. Chris began throwing pottery in 1983 and graduated with a degree in Ceramics in 1990. Prior to starting C. Powell Pottery in 1995, Chris works several years as a production potter to hone his throwing skill. The C. Powell studio is maintained in Westerville, Ohio.



Chris is directly responsible for the development of all glazes, forms, and designs used on each piece of pottery that leaves the C. Powell studio. By maintaining direct involvement in the production of each and every piece of pottery, Chris is able to maintain his ideals of quality craftsmanship and artistic integrity as well as a timeless, honest quality about his work. Each example of C. Powell Pottery is signed and dated by Chris.


In a reflection of the quality, early art pottery produced by Rookwood and Van Briggle, C Powell strives to utilize hand-carved, stylized designs to enhance visual and tactile appeal of simple, hand-thrown arts and crafts forms. By successfully embracing the original arts and crafts movement rather than simply reproducing the work, Chris has created his own identity and developed a quality line of investment grade, American arts and crafts style pottery that unites form, design, and surface.
