Very tall Hjorth Scandinavian Pottery mid century modern mottled brown floor vase. Striking design, color and glaze. MINT CONDITION. No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind. Bottom marked with logo, L HJORTH and DENMARK. Vase is an impressive 14 1/2" tall and 7" wide. We purchased this vase from a private collector who purchased it on Bornholm, the home island of Hjorth and he took it to the Hjorth museum. While there he met Marie Hjorth and she attributed the vase to be a unique work done by her father, Erik Hjorth. Hjorth was established in Denmark in 1859 by Luritz Adolph Hjorth. Hjorth produced high-quality studio pottery as well as production pieces. Hjorth was considered the premier art pottery maker in Bornholm and produced quality examples throughout the art deco and biomorphism movements.
