Herman Kahler Danish Pottery Fish

Herman Kahler Danish Pottery Fish 1 / 5
Good mid-century modern Herman Kahler Demark Pottery fish.  Exceptional form, color and glaze.  MINT CONDITION.  No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind.  Bottom marked with HAK logo and DENMARK.  Fish is 5 1/2" tall and 7" long.  Kahler Keramiks was founded in 1839 but didn't begin producing ceramics until around 1900 when Herman Kahler began producing luster glazed pottery.  Herman Kahler inherited Kahler Keramiks in 1872 and directed the pottery until his death in 1917.  Others important artists were Sven Hammershoi who developed the luster glazes of the early 1900s and Jens Thirslaund who developed a later line of luster glazes in the 1920s.  Kahler Keramiks produced high-quality Danish pottery until the mid 1950s when it went out of business.
