About Merrimac Pottery

Merrimac
Pottery originated in 1897. The company was founded
by Thomas Nickerson. Merrimac terminated produced
in 1908 after the pottery was destroyed by fire.
The company produced arts and crafts pottery in
a wide variety of colors including greens, yellows,
rose, blues, etc. Merrimac was also recognized
for its various glazes including matte, luster,
and crackle. Merrimac Pottery is typically marked
Merrimac with the sturgeon logo or with a paper
label. Early examples were rarely marked.
