Good mid-century modern Herman Kahler Demark Pottery fish.  Exceptional form, color and glaze.  MINT CONDITION.  No chips, cracks, damage or repair of any kind.  Bottom marked with HAK logo and DENMARK.  Fish is 5 1/2" tall and 7" long.  Kahler Keramiks was founded in 1839 but didn't begin producing ceramics until around 1900 when Herman Kahler began producing luster glazed pottery.  Herman Kahler inherited Kahler Keramiks in 1872 and directed the pottery until his death in 1917.  Others important artists were Sven Hammershoi who developed the luster glazes of the early 1900s and Jens Thirslaund who developed a later line of luster glazes in the 1920s.  Kahler Keramiks produced high-quality Danish pottery until the mid 1950s when it went out of business.

Large tapered Rorstrand Swedish Pottery bowl.  Great shape.  EXCELLENT CONDITION.  We had two small chips to the rim professionally repaired.  No other chips, cracks, damage, or repair of any kind.  Small color skip to rim.  Bottom marked with logo, the cipher for Carl-Harry Stalhane, H112 and SWEDEN.   Bowl is 2 3/4" tall and 7 1/4" in diameter.  Rorstrand was established in Sweden in 1726.  In 1931 Gunnar Nylund along with Carl-Harry Stalhane (who was appointed senior artist in 1939) began developing the simple, organic shapes that have since become so sought-after by collectors.  Rorstrand  is probably the most widely recognized Scandinavian art pottery.  A limited production series called an Ateleje, or workshop, was created in 1961 for Stalhane.  The Ateleje also included the work from Inger Persson, Hertha Bengston, and Sylvia Leuchovious.  The Ateleje series was not commercially viable and was soon dissolved.
